Aung Thuta was four when he first listened to an FYM Rural Book Club session. His older brother was taking part online. He sat alongside him and listened too.

Opportunities to learn English outside school were limited, his mother says. The weekly club gave both children another place to listen, read and talk.

Now he reads and shares his ideas with other children in the group. His mother has noticed that he speaks English with more confidence. He can also think of and write simple sentences on his own.

In our rural area, where there were few opportunities for English learning, the Reading Club became an important opportunity for my children.
